January 2008 completes my third year of self-employment. If you want see
what I have been up to lately click here.
I have been quite heavily involved over the last couple of months, providing
human factors expertise to a major plant design project. This has given me a
very good insight into the issues involved in getting human factors
integrated into the project so that it can actually make a difference.
I have recently presented some one days courses for a couple of companies.
The courses have covered the basics of human factors as it applies to major
hazard (COMAH) sites. They have been well received, largely because
companies can see what needs to be done, and can see it is achievable.
I was one of the speakers at the ergonomics society's oil and gas conference
at the end of 2007. This was well attended and everyone who I have spoken to
since found it useful and informative.
I am speaking at the Institute of Chemical Engineer's Hazards XX conference
in April. I am joint author with Brian Pacitti from
Infotechnics, who sell
some really good plant data and shift logging software. |
